Knowing What to Expect

For the first 24 to 48 hours your neck and face will be swollen and discolored, sometimes more in one area than others, and we will give you ice packs to help bring this swelling down. After approximately two weeks, swelling will subside, and any numbness that you may feel will diminish within a few months. You will be advised not to bend, lift, or strain for a number of weeks, as this can cause excess bleeding. You will also need to avoid unprotected exposure to the sun, as your skin will be tender and vulnerable.
